Samantha to marry her boy friend in 2016

Despite her status as the ‘dream girl’ of South Indian movies, Samantha comes across as a simple girl who speaks out her mind. She was recently asked about her marriage plans and she replied without blinking an eyelid that she would be getting married after three years.

Barely three years into the Telugu film industry, the 25-year-old has already delivered five big hits, back to back. Call her talented, or plain lucky, but fact is that Samantha is on the wish list of every top actor, director and producer.

While she is gearing up to romance Suriya in her next Tamil outing directed by Lingusamy, she also has several Telugu films in her kitty. A lot of other offers are also pouring in for this ‘Neethane En Ponvasantham’ bgirl.

Samantha-marriage-after-three-yearsThe question of marriage was brought up during her recent interview for a leading television channel. “I’m just 25 now and would get married only after three years from now. I’d get married to my lover,” said Samantha, with her sizzling smile in place.

Though she confessed that she is in a relationship, the actress was not ready to reveal the identity of her man. Die-hard fans of Samantha would surely be nursing their broken hearts now that Samantha has ‘officially’ announced that she is in love.

Samantha was, however, matured enough to state philosophically that “I know that success in films can’t be a permanent affair; always, it’s the family life which is permanent and one which can endure all sorts of crises!

Vishwaroopam – Tamil Movie Review

Cast: Kamal Haasan, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah
Direction: Kamal Haasan
Production: Chandra Haasan, Kamal Haasan
Music: Shankar – Ehsaan – Loy
Lyricist: Viramutu, Kamala Hazan

Vishwaroopam is Kamal Haasan’s most genuine and sincere attempt till date. Kamal Haasan’s hardwork as actor and director is evident in every scene. Kamal deserves kudos for making a truly Hollywood style thriller set against the backdrop of terrorism without hurting any religious sentiments. In Tamil, Vishwaroopam is first of its kind in dealing with a truly global topic and not deviating from the core theme for even a minute. Kamal has done his best to keep the audience glued to their seats almost throughout the movie.
Since the movie will not release in Tamil Nadu until next few days, we are extra cautious in not revealing any spoilers in this review to preserve the viewing pleasure for our readers.
Kamal – The Director
Kamal shows a lot of maturity as a technically savvy director. Many of the subtle emotions are conveyed visually instead of lengthy dialogues. The way the title card is shown prepares you for the unhurried steady pacing in which the knots will be revealed. The casting looks believable for most of the characters even though the director could not extract much in the form of acting.
The movie also has interesting ‘mass’ elements that will have audience go gaga when Kamal shows off his stunts when he brings down a dozen of his opponents in style. Kamal infuses comedy in the scenes without going overboard where he gets tortured and beaten up by his captors. Kamal Haasan’s dialogues are crisp, intelligent and laced with humour.
Kamal – The Actor
Kamal brings down the house in his role as the effeminate Kathak dancer during the first segment. Kamal’s range of expressions and body language are a delight to watch. Kamal’s dance, when he teaches his Kathak students, will leave you awe-struck and will make you admire his proficiency in the classical form of dance. Kamals underplays in the second segment where you see him as one of the terrorists in Afghanistan. In the second half, Kamal’s transforms to look more dynamic, younger and brings in more heroism.
Cast
Pooja Kumar looks attractive with her sharp features. Pooja provides the comic relief with her timing and her line of questioning. Her characterization is a pit perplexing and it is not clear whether she is really cheating on her husband. Pooja’s strong brahminical dialect blended with perfect American accent is interestingly conceived. She has an important role in the climax portions.
Andrea is graceful in her opening Kathak dance song along with Kamal. She looks fresh and wish she had more screen space along with Kamal. Rahul Bose has an important role as the main terrorist. He performs well as Omar who tries to unleash terror in the city of New York. However, Rahul doesn’t come across as a strong antagonist for Kamal. Shekhar Kapur, Nassar and rest of the casts appear out of place due to dubbing. Watch out for the role of Osama Bin Laden making a brief appearance in the movie.
Music and Technicalities
Songs and Background music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy are situational and aid the story. Cinematography by Sanu Varghese is disciplined and maintains a consistent tone in New York and Afghanistan portions. Art direction deserves special mention for recreating the Afghan terrain, houses and interiors in Chennai. One would notice the special care taken by the sound design department in many of the scenes. The fight choreography and the bomb blast scenes showing the activation of bomb from another building is highly impactful.
Controversial Scenes
There are no controversial scenes in the movie as far as one could tell. It is a lot less controversial than many other Tamil and Hindi movies that were released in the past. The movie shows young muslims in Afghanistan picking up guns and becoming suicide bombers.
If anybody who needs to be offended is it should be Hindus because there is a scene where an American cop questioning Pooja about how Hindu Gods with four hands can be crucified. Pooja responds by saying we only dunk our Gods in the sea. Also, there are reasons for Brahmins to be offended as Kamal calls Andrea “paapathiyama” and hands over a chicken asking her whether the meat is cooked well. Even Americans would have reasons to be upset for showing many scenes of Ex-President George Bush’s placard/poster being used for target practice for the terrorists.
Downsides
The second segment of the first-half which is shown as happening in Afghanistan appears a bit stretched and the screenplay should have been slicker. The movie from start to finish doesn’t peak. Rahul Bose as antagonist is not menacing enough despite all his efforts with his disfigured looks and voice. The acting by a number of new faces is not natural, hindering the narration. This may not be such a novel story nor setting for many of our Hindi audiences since it is already explored in movies like New York and Kurbhaan. Despite these minor issues, the movie is really worth your patience at times.
Bottomline
Kamal has made a sincere attempt at making a quality movie. Please watch it only in Theatres (or DTH) and curb your curiosity to watch it in online piracy prints. This is the least you could do for a man who has dedicated himself for more than five decades for Tamil cinema!

“SEPTEMBER MADHAM” GIRL ‘SOPHIYA HAQUE’ PASSES AWAY

Sophiya Haque was a former TV presenter who then became an actress. In Kollywood she is best known for her dance performance in “September Madham” song from Mani ratnam‘s “Alaipayuthey“.
She recently passed away after a losing struggle with cancer. She was a great dancer and also a great singer because of which she performed in AR Rahman’s musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, “Bombay Dreams”. She resided in London where she passed away and her friends and colleagues mourn her death. We pray that she may rest in peace.
THE LAST INTERVIEW WITH ACTRESS SOPHIYA HAQUE!
MARILYN Monroe, Lady Gaga and Bollywood action star Akshay Kumar all did it – but for most people, changing their names to get ahead in their careers is not always an option.
Some change their names to make it easier to pronounce, but for others, it means the difference between a call for an interview or not.
British Asian actress Sophiya Haque, who stars in a new play in the West End, says changing your name to get a job in showbusiness is “normal”, but has revealed she once changed the colour of her hair to audition as a non-Asian character.
“That’s something that’s happened in show business for years and years, where people have to ‘unethnicise’ their name which may restrict you to certain roles,” Haque told Eastern Eye.
Her comments come as a report published earlier this month from the allparty parliamentary group on race and community said racial bias is still an issue for women from ethnic minorities in getting a job, with some having to change their names to secure interviews.
Although Haque, who was born to an English mother and Bangladeshi father, has never changed her name to audition for a role, she dyed her hair to appear non-Asian. “You do tailor yourself,” she said.
“If I wanted to get a job where I wasn’t playing an Indian, I would change the colour of my hair so I could fool them into thinking I wasn’t Asian. In showbusiness this goes on and it’s normal. Also you have to have a unique name because someone else may already have your name.”
Haque has enjoyed a varied career on stage and on the big screen. She was a singer and a VJ host on MTV India and has starred in West End productions like Bombay Dreams, The Far Pavillions, Wah Wah Girls; TV shows Coronation Street and House of Anubis; Hollywood film Wanted; and dance scenes in Bollywood films like Khoobsurat.
For her latest performance, Haque is set to star in the theatre production Privates on Parade on Monday (10) at the Michael Grandage Company in central London. She plays the only female amongst a group of soldiers in what is described as a dark comedy set against the murderous backdrop of the Malaysian campaign at the end of the Second World War.
Haque is currently moving from Portsmouth, where she grew up, to her new home in Surrey.
“I’m trying to juggle moving a house, building a house and doing a new show. It’s probably been the busiest time I’ve ever had in my life,” she said.
And Haque hopes it stays like that. There was a period when she wasn’t “busy” and out of work for almost two years, leaving her feeling demoralised. “People say I’ve had ‘five lives’ already.
In my rock & roll lifestyle where I was an MTV presenter in India, I didn’t have to think about where’s the next gig because I was employed for 15 years by Warner Brothers and MTV. When that’s all you know, you can’t imagine not being in work,” she explained.
“I’ve never had an agent to bring me in the work. It was not until I came back to this country that I had to start back up again. I had two years of saying to myself: “what happens now?” “After doing The Far Pavillions my agent pushed me for TV and film roles. Thankfully since my role in Corrie, I’ve had regular work… touch wood.”
Alongside Haque, other productions at the Michael Grandage Company star Judi Dench, Ben Wishaw, Daniel Radcliffe, Sheridan Smith, David Walliams and Jude Law. There are over 100,000 tickets being sold for £10.

Am I donning a politician role in Thalaiva? Actor Vijay

Thalaiva is a film which has Vijay in the lead role. This film is being directed by A L Vijay. Since this film has been titled Thalaiva (leader), there is a doubt that whether this film is political film.
Some time back Vijay had converted his fan club as people movement. He had also released a flag for this movement. Lots of charitable deeds are being done through these movements. Vijay also travels throughout Tamil Nadu and participates in the public meetings and also helps the poor people.
It was expected that Vijay will foray into politics. Since his film is titled Thalaiva, there are talks that Vijay will very soon set his foots in the political field. There was also news that there are political sequences in this film and Vijay is donning the role of a politician. When asked Vijay about this, he said, “There are no political sequences in this film. I am not donning the role of a politician. I cannot mention anything about the story.”
Producer Sunil Chandra Prakash Jain while speaking said, “The title Thalaiva is suitable one for Vijay’s image. The posters may depict as if it is a political one but this is not a political film.”

Karthi Biriyani posters out, served hot!

Karthi’s recent release Alex Pandian may have failed to impress his fans but here is a reason for them to be happy. Well, the posters of his next film Biriyani, directed by Venkat Prabhu has been released on the internet. A couple of posters featuring Karthi,Hansika Motwani and Premji Amaran have hit the internet. The first look is colourful and clearly tells that the film belongs to the comedy genre. Of all posters, Karthi kissing Hansika Motwani’s cheek while embarrassed Premji turning his face in the opposite direction is the best! Venkat Prabhu’s directorial film also features Vaibhav Reddy, Sampath Raj, Sam Anderson, SnehaPrasannaSangeetha Gopal and others in the cast. The film is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja under the banner of Studio Green. While Yuvan Shankar Raja is responsible for composing the music, Sakthi Saravanan will be handling the camera for the film.

Ajith’s next is Valai

Vishnuvardhan is currently busy with Thala Ajith‘s fifty third movie produced under AM Ratnam. However, the title of the movie has long held close to his chest and he has for long remained tight lipped about it.
Following which the suspense only got bigger after a short update from the writers of the movie said it may start with V. But now curious fans of the actor have been treated to the good news. Breaking the long silence the much promised classy entertainer has eventually been christened as Valai. Official announcement is expected this Sunday.
Close sources from the shooting location also tell us that Ajith is an ethical hacker and the title sits well as he carries out a lot of the duties on the inter’net’ being a hacker.
Meanwhile, the Valai team is briskly getting over with its shooting schedules. Recently Taapsee Pannu confirmed that her part for the movie was over as she disclosed on her microblogging site “Last day of this schedule in bombay. Will surely miss this unit.”
Post the schedules completion the crew has headed to Dubai in lieu of their forthcoming schedule. Apart from Thala and Taapsee the flick will also feature Arya and Nayanthara in supporting roles.

Manirathnam is my mentor: Music composer A R Rahman

The actors and actresses of the film Kadal directed by Manirathnam was introduced to the media in a function held in Chennai. Director Manirathnam, music composer A R Rahman, lyricist Vairamuthu, actors Gowtham, Thulasi, Karthik, Radha, Suhasini and Arjun participated in this function.
Arjun and Suhasini hosted the programme. The trailer of Kadal was screened in this function. Karthik introduced his son Gowtham while Thulasi was introduced by director Manirathnam.
Karthik while speaking said, “Radha and I debuted in Bharathiraja’s film. Our children have been introduced in a film directed by Manirathnam. Aravind Swamy asked me that why I did not come to the shooting spots. I told him,” All of you are there. I know that you will take care of them.”
Arjun while speaking on this occasion said, “Gowtham Karthik is a talented actor who can imbibe the story in him and act.”

Manirathnam while speaking said, “When I saw Gowtham, I felt that I got a suitable hero for my film.”
Suhasini asked Vairamuthu that how he felt the 20 years combination of Manirathnam- A R Rahman- Vairamuthu, he said, “This combination is not out of convenience. This is not a combination which will change once in five years. This is a musical combination. I have penned lyrics for three songs in this film. All these songs have been taken from my poems.”
A R Rahman while speaking said that Manirathnam was his mentor. A R Rahman played three songs that he liked on his piano. Finally Gowtham conveyed his whole hearted thanks to the entire crew.

Jayam Ravi’s ‘Bhoologam’

Jayam Ravi who has been playing a chocolate boy role with perfection and had been making a few hearts skip their beat with his handsome looks, naughty performance and feel good movies has been leaping into the big shoes of a mass hero and a star . If his prowess for action was proved right in ‘Peraanmai’ by Director S .P. Jhananathan here comes “Bhoologam” to cement his place as an action star !!! It is no co incidence that “Bhoologam” is directed by N. Kalyanakrishnan who had associated Director Jhananathan in all his ventures.
Producer V. Ravichandran of Aascar films who is known for his eyes and ears for successful formulas in film making was impressed by the narration style of the young director and is confident that the making and the cast of the film will rank itself into the big film category!!!
The director who had spent considerable period in researching the nuances of ‘boxing’ in north madras says this film has a vision and we are focused… Set in the back drop of North Madras still a haven for “boxing” in this part of the country Jayam Ravi plays the role of a Boxer, “Bhoologam” who hit the national headlines maneuvered by the demons and compulsions of the society.

Trisha beautiful as ever celebrates her decade long relationship with the tinsel world by playing the female lead a role very contrary to the jumping around the tree heroine role!!!
Prakashraj hasn’t been challenged in terms of characters considering his potentiality…it is true that there are not much challenges ahead of him when it comes to sheer performance. In ‘Bhoologam’ he plays a ‘powerful role’…and virtually a powerful role …his could be the most discussed in the near future.

The casting is power packed we would rather say when you have Arpit ranga as National Boxing Champion, Rajesh as State Boxing champion , Shanmugarajan and Ponvannan . The song depicting the relationship between Jayam ravi the disciple and Ponvannan the master would go a long way in the emotional angle , andI was amazed by the acting potentiality of Jayam ravi in those scenes …he was terrific , the director gleefully endorses ..
While I have penned the script and screen play along with directing the film , Iam very fortunate to have Jahanathan sir to pen the dialogues and his outlook on the society has been reflected well in every single phrace !!!
The sound of music is orchestered by Srikkanth Deva, and his numbers in the movie will definitely cater to the ears of the masses, the ample proof is the popularity it enjoys among the unit members now. Lyric writer Vijaysagar brings the ‘typical slang and culture’ of North Madras with his songs and the director of photography SR. Sathish kumar of Peraanmai fame (unseen visuals were introduced to the audience in his ‘taming of the forest’) and art director debutant AR Mohan combine to gather to bring the color and culture of the boxing back ground!!!
The icing of the cake for an action flick is always the editing and with Editor V .T .Vijayan on the helm it stands assured. Every eye that watched ‘Peraanmai’ was in awe on the intensity of the stunt sequence and every lip muttered ‘wow’…here is a repeat rather much intensified action by the stunt master Miracle Michael (stunt director for Kochadaiyaan).
The ultimate attraction of ‘Bhoologam’ would be the action sequence involving Jayam Ravi and Nathan jones (Hollywood artiste from America, who stands tall… literally seven feet…who has got fans all around the globe “Troy” fame). Here is a clash where it will not be just the sparks but bomb shells!!! Watch out for ‘Bhoologam’. The stage is all set for a knockout punch and we will deliver the punch in style…The director flashes his toothy smile.

Alex Pandian – Tamil Movie Review

Movie: Alex Pandian
Directed by Suraj
Produced by K. E. Gnanavelraja
Starring Karthi as Alex PandianAnushkaSanthanamNikhita Thukral, SanushaAkanksha Puri, Milind Soman,Suman, Prathap Pothen, Shannon Elijah
Music by Devi Sri Prasad
Cinematography Saravanan
Editing by Praveen KL, NB Srikanth
Studio Studio Green

Alex Pandian is an upcoming Tamil action-masala film directed by Suraaj that features Karthi and Anushka in the lead roles, while Santhanam plays a pivotal supporting role.
Devi Sri Prasad composed the music. The film is scheduled to release for January 11th 2013.
The Telugu version, Bad Boy is scheduled to release on January 25, 2013.
Karthi‘s last movie Saguni had failed to impress the audience. Now, the actor has teamed up with Suraaj, who has the history of making mass-masala films and delivering hits. The director, in an interview recently, has claimed that his latest film Alex Pandian with the Paruthiveeran star is a perfect Pongal treat for Tamil audience since it’s an action-comedy film.
Expectations

Tamil movie audience in recent years have been expecting good storyline and do not entertain mindless scenes, comedies and regular masala tales anymore. They look for believable factors and do not appreciate the same old routine sequences or glorifying the heroism of a lead star unnecessarily. Well, the latest film, with its trailers and posters, appeared like a regular mass film but generated huge hype because of high-octane action sequences. Is their enough entertaining elements in Alex Pandian that would meet audience expectations? Read on to know…
Story

It has a stunning beginning with a much-talked train chase sequence. A group of thugs chase Anushka and Karthi comes to rescue her and bashes them up. The first 10 minutes is thrilling and the action sequence have been brilliantly shot, despite the fact that the audience can easily make out that the scenes have been choreographed on a still train at parts.
Immediately after the sequence, we are introduced to comedian Santhanam‘s family, which consists of his mother and three younger sisters. Alex Pandian settles down at his house in spite of stern opposition from Santhanam. The hero flirts with all his three sisters played by Nikita Thukral, Sanusha, and Akanksha Puri. The first half is full of comedy and a few fights.
The second half shows the true identity of Karthi and Anushka, the daughter of a Chief Minister. Alex has kidnapped Anushka and the orders are passed by Alvin Martin (Milind Soman) and Dr GKM (Sumanth). The baddies wants to sign a deal with the state government. As the Chief Minister refuses to sign, they give a contract to Karthi to abduct Anushka. What happens next should be seen on-screen.
The first half is completely entertaining and generates curiosity through suspense. Santhanam‘s comedy and Karthi‘s fights will be enjoyed by audience. Double entendres are also tolerable. But the second half lets you down. The director takes two much of time to wrap up the story and drags the tale. The expectations built in the first half will be shattered with a predictable ending.
Karthi and Anushka‘s love tale has been forcibly added to the main plot. Their chemistry too fails big time as they look more like siblings than a couple on-screen! Nikita would have been a better choice to play Karthi‘s leading lady. Milind Soman as a baddie has got nothing much to do except for a few round of gunfire in the film. The dubbing for his character is also poor.
However, Karthi is once again energetic and has given his best. He has done action sequences without using bodydouble and looks brilliant in stunts. And also he impresses us with his dance. Anushka is colourful. Santhanam is hilarious at parts and irritating at times due to some poorly written scenes.
Devi Sri Prasad‘s background score is appreciable and his songs are good. ‘Onnam Class‘, ‘Thakka Thayya‘ and ‘Bad Boy‘ are our picks. Cinematographer Sarvanan‘s photography stands out of all technical departments…especially, the train action sequence! Editing by Praveen-K.L. Srikanth is of average quality. Director Suraaj, who has also penned the dialogues get full marks in that department.
Alex Pandian is a typical masala film, which would work better in the Telugu market than among Tamil film goers. To be precise, it is a time-pass movie that can be watched for comedy and action sequences.

Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya Review

Rating: 3.0/5

Santhanam’s maiden production venture starring himself, Sethu and Power Star Srinivasan and VTV Ganesh, Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya (KLTA) is inspired by filmmaker-actor K Bhagyaraj’s yesteryear superhit film Indru Poi Naalai Vaa. It is purely a comedy film directed by Manikandan.

Expectations: With Karthi’s Pongal release Alex Pandian getting thumbs down from critics and audience, Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya is eagerly awaited by Tamil audience hoping that the film would be the perfect film to enjoy in during the festive time. Being the first production of Santhanam, the most sought after comedian in Tamil film industry, people are expecting nothing but a complete fun entertainer from the Handmade Films.

With the names of Srinivasan, VTV Ganesh in the cast, the audience are looking out for a fun-filled flick, which could tickle the funny bones. Has it lived up to their expectations? Read on for the review… Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya is about three men who try to woo a woman – like in the original story Indru Poi Naalai Vaa. But the treatment is different in the Santhanam’s film. The basic knot of both the films sound similar but the story and screenplay are completely different. The three careless friends – Santhanam, and Sethu love the same girl played by Vishakha Singh. Their tricks to impress her to win her heart is the crux of the story.

The story is not new and it is old wine in new bottle. However, the film is an out and out comedy entertainer. The first half of the film is brilliant and second half is full of fun. Continue reading on the slideshow to know the verdict…

Samar – Tamil Movie Review

Directed by Thiru
Produced by T. Ramesh
Written by Thiru, S. Ramakrishnan (dialogue)
Star Cast: Vishal as ShakthiTrisha as MayaSunaina as Roopa, Manoj Bajpai as Arunachalam, JD Chakravarthy as John, Jayaprakash, Sampath Raj, Rajendran
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Samar is a Tamil action film directed by Thiru. It features Vishal, Trisha and Sunaina in the lead roles, with Manoj Bajpai and JD Chakravarthy appearing in supporting roles.

Samar – A Somersault of chaos!
Action, twists, chaos, Love and a lot of thoughts make up “Samar”. Originally it was “Samaran” the warrior but later christened as “Samar” after a series of controversies. Vishal’s action thriller releases today targeting the Pongal holidays. Thiru pairs up with Vishal yet again after “Theeratha Vilayatu Pillai” in this mega budget movie. Major portion of this movie has been shoot in Thailand and a few of them in the dense jungles of Western Ghats. This is also the first time Vishal and Trisha have paired up. Yuvan is the music wagon for Thiru-Vishal duo’s action packed film. All these indispensable elements give the much required hype. How it unveils? Let’s take a brief look.
The Plot
Vishal plays Sakthi the straightforward Forest trek guide unconventionally in Love with Roopa essayed by Sunaina. In search of his damsel he leaves to Thailand and gets stuck in a web of bizarre events. Trisha as Maya helps Sakthi who is facing everything new at his footstep. As evident it was in the trailer the hero is stuck in Thailand facing threats, unrelenting respect and as a millionaire at stake. Manoj and JD play the ruthless villains who are billionaires with little respect for humanity and the nature of it. The first half is racy and action packed with rich visuals of Bangkok and gives the audience a sense of anticipation on what’s in store, why, how and a string of questions unanswered.
Post intermission the answers unveiled makes us in search of a fitting reply which was expected and the justification is questionable. How the hero gets himself out of this chaotic maze, what happens to his love, forms rest of the plot. Thiru makes you predict and gives all the twists up his sleeve only to make the audience leave the theatre with a sense of “Could’ve been more!”.
The Cast
Vishal as Sakthi deserves a big pat and proves he is one among the hunks of Kollywood with most of the skills in a Hero’s resume. The movie rides high on his shoulders through the first half and he is seen much lesser through the second half. Trisha looks gorgeous and is fits her role with enormous ease. In the days of heroine running around the trees of love, she has enacted in a role which requires her presence throughout. Sunaina is the other heroine and looks in contrast when we think of “Neerparavai“.
Manoj Bajpai, JD, Jayaprakash and Sampath play supporting roles in the movie. Thiru took his time to cast Manoj who makes his maiden debut in Tamil cinema.
The Positives
Thiru was gung ho about this action flick right from the start of making this movie and does not let you down with the pace of the movie in the first half. Vishal takes a large share of the credit with his looks and takes the crux of the action quotient. Trisha after a brief hiatus returns with a meaty role. Camera work deserves a special mention especially the Forest scenes, Chase sequences, Length and breadth of Bangkok to mention a few.
The Negatives
Music as a whole is a big let down with very average BGM and low quotient songs. Apart from “Azhago Azhagu” the rest of the songs hardly captivate your memory. Manoj and JD irritate us with their no good acts. Though they fit their roles as psychos, the director could’ve etched out a better explanation for their weird behaviour; instead they create an irate milieu with walking in suits and guffaws of laughter. Thiru’s justification of the thrills takes long enough adding a lot of unwanted lengths in the movie. An Inappropriate item song is such a sore to the eyes as it just doesn’t add the necessary commercial gimmick. Vishal trying to give the weirdoes a taste of their own medicine doesn’t add the abundant logic and tit for tat quotient.
Verdict
A Thriller movie is all about anticipation, twist, action juxtaposed with speedy screenplay and racy narration. Samar has all these elements which Thiru can thrive on, yet the end result makes you ponder why it has not fulfilled the suspense and thriller factor. Samar is a somersault attempt in vain.

Actor Ajith condemns the Government on the Service Tax issue

Actors and actresses held a protest fast at Chennai recently because the Central Government has imposed Service Tax on actors and actresses.
Actors, actresses, directors and all the members of film fraternity participated in this protest fast.
When asked Ajith about this, he said, “The train fare has been hiked. I don’t know what will happen next.
I am not mentioning about the service tax imposed on actors and actresses alone. Instead of hiking fares or imposing taxes, it is enough if the corrupt politicians come forward to spend the black money that they have earned through illegal means for the basic needs of our country.

If this happens our country will be a rich one or one of top ten richest countries in the world. When the British ruled our country, they took away all our treasures.
If this truth is revealed to our people, they will start giving a thought about this. But our country has more corrupt political leaders who have taken more than the British rulers. Only God should save India.
In 1947 when there was a debate in the British Parliament about giving freedom to India and Pakistan, one political Pandit said, “If this happens, the power will go into the hands of rogues.
Useless leaders for the people will be created. Those kinds of leaders will have sweet tongues and hardened hearts. They will fight among themselves for power.
They will create political confusion and because of this both the countries will get lost.” Looking at the present stage of our country, tax may be imposed for breathing the air and drinking the water.”
