Vishwaroopam has not crossed the Rs.100 crore mark till now:Kamal Haasan

There has been a buzz in Kollywood circles spreading fast that the theatrical collections of Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam, which released last Thursday, have already crossed the magical Rs.100 crore mark. The reports, however, need to be doubly confirmed from the distributors and theater-owners before it is formally made known to the press.
Despite the inordinate delay in the film’s release in theatres in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the curiosity factor among’st the members of the public and Kamal’s fans was very much there to watch the film in theatres to find out what it had to face such a serious protest from the Muslim organizations and the subsequent bans by the Chennai High Court.
The collections so far have beaten whatever box-office record a Kamal-starrer has had so far, it is reported. The Hindi version of the film, though, didn’t do well compared to the Tamil version and has only collected Rs.12 crore so far. However, the film is on course to creating a new record in the Tamil version, it is learnt.
Earlier on Monday Rahul Bose had tweeted
Just received figures of the all india box office collections of vishwaroopam. 120 crores and counting. Superb!
The film has been drawing huge crowds in urban areas while in rural localities, the collections are not as encouraging as witnessed in urban halls.
Replying to the Rs.120 crore statement made by Rahul Bose, Kamal says, “While it’s a fact that Vishwaroopam has met with huge success at the box-office, I don’t think it has crossed the Rs.100 crore mark in theatrical collections at this early stage; it might do so later but now now,” he clarified.
That is indeed a Bold Statement by Kamal, considering the fact that these days its a fashion statement to make a 100 cr club claim irrespective of the ground reality.
