Review of Chennaiyil Oru Naal Tamil Movie

As a regular Tamil cinema viewer, I found Chennaiyil Oru Naal (CON) not brilliant, but far, far better than the usual, run-of-the-mill commercial Tamil film. It takes guts to even attempt to make such a film in these times when every second film is either a love story or a revenge-drama. The film may be another racy thriller where all characters race against time, but it scores high on deft presentation and emphasis on the importance of organ donation. Except for one major flaw featuring a leading actor in a cameo, CON stands apart as a film to look forward to.

Based on the Malayalam film Traffic, CON intertwines the lives of certain characters and connects them through one common incident. In Vellore, the 13-year-old daughter of actor Gautham Krishna, named Ria, is in need of a heart transplant. Her condition is deteriorating with every passing minute even as the multi-millionaire father is ready to pay any price for a heart.

Meanwhile, in Chennai, Karthik, a TV show host-cum-journalist, on his first day to work is knocked down at traffic signal by a speeding car. At hospital, he is declared brain dead, with few hours left to live. A doctor, who has learnt about both the cases discusses the probability of donating Karthik’s heart to Ria in not more than 90 minutes.

The mission is to transport a heart from Chennai to Vellore, approximately 150 km, in about 90 minutes. Police commissioner Sundarapandian takes the responsibility of overseeing the mission, while traffic constable Satyamoorthy volunteers to drive the heart to the destination. Doctor Robin too, joins the mission. Will Satyamoorthy and Robin be able to transport the heart on time? This forms the rest of the story.

Based on true events that took place in Chennai few years back, CON is a rare gem in Tamil cinema that despite its hyperlink narration, succeeds in striking a chord with the audience. Initially, the film struggles to develop tension, but when it finally does, it only elevates it with some twists and revelations in the story.

Arya’s ‘Irandam Ulagam’ Going to Rock Soon

While half the world is concerned about his chemistry with the gorgeous Nayan, Arya seems to be too busy to even think about it. He is currently shooting in Uzbekistan for Selvaraghavan’s ‘Irandam Ulagam’. According to sources, the shooting for this film is marching at a fast pace towards completion shortly. Earlier, they shot a few portions of the movie in another Eastern Soviet Bloc, Georgia – precisely where a few complicated scenes of ‘Billa 2′ were shot. This has provoked a lot of expectations among the eager audience.

The team is currently shooting a few climax shots and song sequences in Uzbekistan, to the mesmerizing tunes of Harris Jeyaraj. After this schedule, Arya is expected to return to Chennai promptly, for ‘Settai’ pre- and post-release promotion.

Don’t feel shy while acting: Nayanthara advices Udhayanidhi

After the great success of the film Sundarapandian, director S R Prabhakaran is now directing a film titled Idhu KadhirvelinKadhal. Udhayanidhi Stalin, Nayanthara and Santhanam are starring in this film.

Udhayanidhi Stalin after Oru Kal Oru Kannadi was in search of a story that has little action. He was impressed with the story that Prabhakaran narrated. Earlier Udhayanidhi Stalin while acting in Oru Kal Oru Kannadi wanted Nayanthara to pair with him.

Nayanthara at that point of time had quit acting. HenceHansika was signed for the female lead role. Now Nayanthara who has taken up acting once again had given her nod to act in this film.

During the recent photo shoot, Udhayanidhi Stalin was feeling very shy. It was Nayanthara who gave him courage for the photo shoot. She has mentioned to Udhayanidhi Stalin’s wife, “One should not feel shy while acting in films. Before completing this I will transform your husband totally.” The stills of Nayanthara along with Udhayanidhi Stalin have become very popular among the people.

Harris Jayaraj is composing music for this film. He has already completed five songs. Balasubramaniam is handling the camera for this film.”

Director S R Prabhakaran while speaking about this film said, “Idhu Kadhirvelin Kadhal is a jolly good film with comedy. There will be more importance for friendship and romance in this film. We have also given a small message in this film. It will not be suitable for Udhayanidhi Stalin to bash up 10 people at a time but there will be a small fighting sequence for him. This film will take Udhayanidhi Stalin to the next level.”
